Smashcast attended the 2011 NASA IT Summit in San Francisco to participate as youth media journalists in the Education Blast-Off event.

The Smashcast team had an opportunity to meet two amazing motivational speakers: Leland Melvin, a NASA astronaut and former NFL football player, and Vernice “Flygirl” Armour, the first ever African-American female fighter pilot. Click ‘Read More‘ to see our video.

The Smashcast team had an opportunity to meet two amazing motivational speakers: Leland Melvin, a NASA astronaut and former NFL football player, and Vernice “Flygirl” Armour, the first ever African-American female fighter pilot.

The students also conducted interviews with Linda Cureton, NASA’s Chief Information Officer, Karen Harper, the event coordinator, and Debbie Nguyen, NASA’s Communications Coordinator.
